Archy
Crafton
Nov 21, 1957 — Feb 11, 2025
Queens, NY
Archy Crafton was born November 2, 1957, in Darlington, South Carolina, to the proud parents of Georgia Lide Fox and James P. Fox. She was the fourth of six children. Her family moved to New York in 1969 for better opportunities, initially living in the Bronx before moving to Queens, where she attended Hill Crest High School.
She later married Walter Crafton Sr., and their nuptials were in 1983. That union was blessed with a son, Walter Crafton Jr., a daughter, Aunjahne Crafton, and a granddaughter, Laniyah Angel Figueroa.
She was employed with Eagle Electric Company as a machinist for several years before becoming a Detention School Aid at August Martin High School. Her strong, spicy personality and tough love earned her the respect and affection of her students, who referred to her as “Mrs. C.” Archy always had an interest in working with children. When she spoke, they listened with no pushback. Along with her strong personality, Archy also had a big heart.
Archy entered her crown of rest after fighting a good fight on the evening of February 11, 2025, at the NorthShore Hospital in Manhasset, NY. In addition, she leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her memory: four sisters, Elaine Fox Rampersant, Jannie Fox, Lillie Fox, and Deidra Fox, Esq, and one brother, George Fox. She was also blessed with more than 23 nieces and nephews, one sister-in-law, one brother-in-law, an ex-husband, two aunts, and many cousins. As well as a number of friends and associates.
